The first of a three part mini-series on organizations directly helping those affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti features Save the Children.
Creating lasting positive change in the lives of children in need is their mission. Ensuring that children in need grow up safe, educated and healthy, and better able to attain their rights is their goal.
Immediate Response in Haiti
The agency, with offices in Port-au-Prince, is sending teams out this morning by motorbike in Port-au-Prince and is flying in additional staff to help support the emergency response.
As it has done in recent disasters in Haiti, Save the Children is preparing to provide immediate lifesaving assistance, such as food, water, shelter and child-friendly spaces. It has verified the safety of all but 16 staff members in its main office

Ongoing Projects in Haiti
Save the Children has worked in Haiti since 1985, primarily in the capital city of Port-au-Prince and the Central Plateau region, providing health, education, protection and food security programs to vulnerable children.
